Express Start Datamart will educate
your IT personnel on the concepts behind
datamarts and data warehouses. During
this 3 day program our Professional Services
representative will work with your IT
staff to create the appropriate environments,
host configurations and trouble-shooting
methodologies to meet your defined critical
success factors. In consultation your
team, they will examine your production
environment to ensure it is prepared for
the first 'production' effort. We will
develop and deliver a data mart template
based on your critical success factors
to assist in future efforts.
Datamart Architecture
The most critical aspect
of a datamart or data warehouse is to
understand the need for a corporate wide
strategy and architecture. Using our data
mart scoping methodology we will determine
if your chosen architecture will meet
your critical success factors.
The Administrator
Program
This portion of the program includes an
overview of the MBF-UDALink features, functions
and benefits that relate to building a datamart.
You will be instructed in the most expedient
method of access and extracting data to
populate the datamart. Sample FD files will
be provided. We will review the process
of updating databases as part of the program.
The administrator will be instructed in
the process of creating "loader"
files for populating the datamart. Sample
loader file will be provided.
Host Configuration
General instruction will be provided for
establishing connections to your data servers
and creating User ID's for individual or
groups. Instruction will be given in how
these User ID's can be further customized
to provide or inhibit access to data as
required. User Tables that define which
areas of the database are available to which
users will be covered in this module. Setting
up environments that grant read only and/or
write privileges to your database will also
be covered.
Proof of Concept
MB Foster Services Professionals will
provide you with the education and tools
to take your datamart project to production.
The technical knowledge gained at your site
will enable our Customer Service staff to
provide top notch support should the need
arise.
